Here is an update from our annual beginning-of-season Officers meeting - we have several potential changes:
On our weekly standings sheet that I publish after each weeks play, I will make an attempt this year to keep a running total for the entire season for skins winners, hole prize winners, dollars won, etc. This will shed a new light on whose winning, etc., and should prove to be a fun stat to keep (and as always with new things, bear with me while the bugs are worked out).
Next on the agenda is our 2008 agreement with the course. First, this year, each player will pay for 1/2 of a cart, and will not be responsable for their partners half. This should make it easier on players if their partner doesn't show up (not getting stuck paying for a full cart). Second, ALL teams will be playing on one course this year. There will NOT be a split course. We will still be rotating through the courses, but as a single entity. This was requested by the league officers at the end of last season, and the course has agreed to it.
The executive comittee is considering having a 1st quarter, 2nd quarter, 3rd quarter, and 4th quarter winning teams, and a playoff at the end. This would give more teams better chances at being in the playoffs. This is still being 'fleshed out' so more details will come shortly.
The next item that was discussed was speed of play. For some, this is a big topic. This season, we will ALL need to be aware of our own speed of play, and be mindful that we are not holding up the rest of the league behind us. This is especially true since we all will be playing on a single course each week. This is a very important topic, and I'm sure it will be discussed alot in the coming weeks.
Finally, we will be having a league meeting for EVERYONE interested, one week before our opening first night of play. It will be held in the Whiteford Valley clubhouse. We would like to address any issues that league member have at that time (such as any of the items mentioned above, and more).
As always, if you have any issues or questions please feel free to ask me. If you have a problem, please consult a member of the greivance comittee.
See ya soon!
Rob
