Hey everybody! Yes, I'm still alive and kickin'! I thought I should put up a post as to what happened last week.
Last week, I was having chest pains, but thought it was anxiety attacks, because the end of the season was here and I wanted the Tamaron outing to be perfect and a great time for everyone. Even when I played on Thursday I was having trouble with pains and short breath.
What was really happening was the main valve on the front of my heart was clogged, and closing by the minute. At work on Friday, it hit me really bad. They called the ambulance, and when I got to the ER at St Lukes, the big heart attack hit (lucky I was in the right place). They rushed me in and put 2 stints in my heart. (Incidentally, while the doctor had the tube snaked from my groin up to my heart, I asked him if I could golf on Saturday! He got a real chuckle out of that one.... but hey, it's golf!).
Anyway, I made it home on Sunday morning. I will be off work for at least 2 weeks. Obviously, the things I have to change are diet, smoking, stress, cholesterol, etc - all the big stuff. So over the next few weeks, I will be working on a change of life. This isn't going to be easy... The good news is: MAYBE in another month, I can start to swing a golf club again! I am really going to miss this next month of not golfing - it is one of my favorite times of year.
At any rate, I'm really sorry that I missed the end of year outing! I was really looking forward to it. Bob Johnson was kind enough to handle things for me, and did it on a spur of the moment. Thanks Bob - I really appreciate all the help you've given me over the last few days - it means alot!!! I'm glad everyone had a good time at the outing - I wish I were there. The positive side is: I will be there next year, ready to go at it again!
I'd also like to thank everyone else for your support and prayers! It's really great to know people like you, and to be part of this group! We have a great golf family here, don't we? Thanks, guys!!!
I will be going through the stats and stuff from the outing, and making some other posts pertaining to the league. Also, this site WILL remain active throughout the off season, so be sure to check back often. I'm glad to hear everyone has enjoyed the site this year! It is a great way for us to connect during the off times.
Glad I'm still here!
Rob

Great to hear you are doing better! We missed you Saturday to give you your due and congratulations on a good job this year for the league and also putting together the outing.
Heed your doctor's words and take care of your self!

Rob,
Thanks for all of your efforts this year. The first year is always the toughest. Bob did a good job in your absence. He would have been better if he hadn't been lamenting all day of his missed opportunity of snaking that tube through your groin.
Hope your feeling better...Pat
Rob...Some guys will do anything to avoid taking a golf whoopin', but you take the cake! Scheduling a heart attack of all things.
Get better and come take a whoopin' like a man. (or Pat)
